Puerto Rico's vibrant capital preserves the island's Spanish heritage in its colonial neighborhoods. The cobblestone streets of Old San Juan, or the ‘Old City’, teem with restaurants and shops and a large concentration of art galleries and museums.

From dancing the night away to having one of the best meals in Puerto Rico, Loiza Street is filled with culture and life. Within walking distance you will be able to find  an active local scene that includes from fine dining restaurants to haute couture boutiques, from local shops to cafes, the possibilities are endless.

Ocean Park Beach

Set mere steps from our hotel, the residential neighborhood east of Condado and west of Isla Verde is home to a 1-mile stretch of golden sand. Windsurfers say the conditions here are nearly perfect. The tranquil beach is popular with young people, particularly on weekends.

Beach bars, water-sports outfitters, and chair-rental places abound at this beach located east of Old San Juan and west of Ocean Park. The protected water at the small stretch of beach west of the Condado strip right next to Puente Dos Hermanos is particularly calm and popular with families.

One of the locals' favorite places, La Placita is a vibrant area filled with bustling bars and a colorful market. This funky district is the perfect place for hunt for unique souvenirs or to some local cuisine. Chat with local residents and embrace the warm culture of San Juan.

Gastronomy at Food Truck Parks

Food Trucks are a thing in Puerto Rico, making themselves popular all around the island. In the San Juan area, we have two Food Truck Parks: Miramar Food Truck Park, located 5 minutes away from SJ Doubletree in 1006 Ave. Ponce de Leon, San Juan, Puerto Rico, is open from Wednesday to Saturday. Lote 23 is the most recent park, located in 1552 Ave. Ponce de León (Parada 23) Santurce, Puerto Rico is also 5 minutes away and opened Tuesday thru Sunday.

The Mall of San Juan is the only mall in Puerto Rico, featuring a 138,000 square foot Nordstrom and a 100,000 square foot Saks Fifth Avenue. This state-of-the-art, two-level, enclosed mall, offers exquisite dining and entertainment, with unique retailers and a children’s play area not found anywhere else on the island.

Bacardi distillery

Only a 15-minute ride from our property, a visit to the Bacardí Distillery is a must-stop when in San Juan. Opened in 1958 the Bacardí Distillery, known as the "Cathedral of Rum", is the largest premium rum distillery in the world. Explore the history and craftsmanship of the world's most awarded rum with one of their historical, rum tasting or mixology tours. Following your visit enjoy a Cuba Libre or Mojito, emblematic Bacardí drinks, at their signature bat-winged visitors pavilion.

Puerto Rico Museum of Arts

Walk for just two blocks and you’ll discover one of the biggest museums in the Caribbean, this beautiful neoclassical building was once the San Juan Municipal Hospital. The collection of Puerto Rican art starts with works from the colonial era, most of them commissioned for churches. There's much more to the museum, including a beautiful garden filled with a variety of native flora and a 400-seat theater that's worth seeing for its remarkable hand-crocheted lace curtain.

Home to the centuries-old fortresses El Morro and San Cristóbal, Old San Juan charms with its cobblestone streets and amazing museums. No visit to San Juan is complete without visiting the old town's historic and cultural sites, such as the Cathedral de San Juan, which houses the crypt of Juan Ponce de León.

El Yunque Rainforest

Only a half hour from San Juan, discover beauty and adventure exploring EL Yunque Rainforest, Puerto Rico’s largest natural treasure and the only tropical rainforest in the U.S. National Park System. Named by the Spanish for its anvil-shaped peak, El Yunque is a photographer's and hiker's paradise, with waterfalls, wild orchids, giant ferns, towering tabonuco trees, and sierra palms.

Just steps away from the hotel. With four different theaters, the largest of which holds up to 1,900 people, this is the largest venue of its kind in the Caribbean. You’ll find it just a short stroll from our hotel. There's something going on nearly every night, from pop or jazz concerts to plays, operas, and ballets. It's also the home of the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra.

Named after one of the greatest Puerto Rican comedians, José Miguel Agrelot (Don Cholito), the Coliseum is popularly known as “Choliseo” and is the biggest indoor arena in Puerto Rico dedicated to entertainment. It is located at the Golden Mile of San Juan, the island capital and has an event almost every weekend.
